Never, Ever, Ever....

This is the very first Never Ever Ever weekly link-up.
I'm theming this one, making it all about my upcoming move!
Some of these will be happening once we move though.

Never, Ever, Ever....

Have I eaten at In-N-Out.

Have I lived in a state other than Missouri.

Did I think I would be sad about selling a 15 year old, orange car. I love my SMX.

Have I driven in California traffic.

Would I think not having cable would be the better choice.

Have I driven across country by myself.

Have I been so excited to eat Mexican food!

Have I been so sad to leave a place.

MP's, the Fire Dept, and My Own Stupidity

On Saturday, Little Missy and I headed to the commissary to do a little shopping. When we were done, the bagger followed us to the car. He started putting the groceries in, I started the car, and buckled Little Missy in her car seat. When he was done, I paid him, shut the door, and walked around to the other side to get in. I went to grab the door handle and the door locked on me. It's done this to me before, so I walked around to the passenger side to crawl over. The passenger side and the back door were also locked. I tried the hatch and it was locked. Mild panic. My purse and phone were in the car. Thankfully it was running and the A/C was on full blast.

There was a woman and kids in the van parked next to me, so I tapped on her window, explained the situation and asked to use her phone. She handed it to me and I just stared at it. I don't know anyone's number. I used to know hubby's, but he got a new number when he got back and I haven't memorized it yet. Shit. Shit and double shit. She and I went back and forth on it a minute and she called her husband (who was in the commissary) to come out and help us. Neither one of us knew the operator's number to call the MP's either (it's in my phone, of course). Her husband came out, we explained the situation to him, he checked all the doors and proceeded to call the MP's.

I kept checking on Little Missy and she appeared to be fine. I heard her yelling at me a few times, but she didn't look to be upset. She had picked up a stick at the park earlier and was happily banging it against the window.
She took this and sent it to me. Too bad she didn't get one of the crowd we created!

In no time at all, the MP's showed up. I explained the situation again and he confirmed that the air was on. That's when I heard the ambulance drive up. How embarrassing. It's payday weekend, the commissary and the PX are crowded and we've created a scene. The ambulance parked and two vehicles from the fire department pulled in. There had to have been 8 to 10 people there. One MP got my information while a few firefighter's started working on the passenger door. I told at least four more people that the A/C was on and confirmed that I had enough gas in the tank. They couldn't seem to get the door unlocked, but they managed to pry it open enough to stick a thing in to try to roll the window down. After a few tries, they got the window down. 3 people opened doors (the car only has 3 doors) to check on Little Missy. She was perfectly fine. She wasn't upset, she hadn't been crying, and she wasn't even sweaty.

She was maybe in there 15 minutes total. I just thank God that the air was on and that lady was next to me. If she wouldn't have been there, I would have had to run back to the commissary and leave her there alone. I don't know what I would have done. The lady and I ended up talking for a while and come to find out they just moved here a couple weeks ago. I gave her my number and she texted me later saying after today, we were destined to be friends.

New Cars

In February, I had hubby's van towed and fixed.
Last month, my van had to be towed.

The diagnosis was not good.
A cracked radiator, that best case would cost $730 to fix.
Worse case was $500 more.
The mechanic said he wouldn't fix it if it was his and we only paid $1K for it.
To the junkyard it went!
MCCS made it surprisingly easy to junk a vehicle.

For a few weeks, I was content driving hubby's van, even though, really, I hate it.
I just didn't want to spend the money to buy something new.
Hubby insisted I buy something before he got home.
He didn't want us to argue over who had priority of the lone vehicle.
Duh, my stuff is way more important than his job!!
We set our price at $2500 and we wanted something with
JCI that had been recently done.
It wasn't easy.
Car lots here overprice their vehicles,
so I was left with buying from an individual.
Every time I was supposed to drive a vehicle,
they sold it before I got there.
I was getting frustrated, stressed, and just mad.
I didn't want to mess with it.
Last week, I finally managed to see and drive a vehicle.
And then I bought it.
I managed to stay well under our price point and the JCI was just done on March 28.
Meet my new Honda S-MX!

The color wouldn't be my first choice, but who really cares.
It's a fun little box.
The Japanese know how to make every little bit of space useful in their vehicles.

This thing has WAY more room than you would ever think!!
Considering this is the first vehicle I have bought on my own, meaning there was no one along to help, i.e. my dad or husband, I'm pretty pleased with myself!
